Some additional search for key elements of the design - the mask and the lantern. I was considering adding malachite into design, but later abandoned this idea, as it was overcomplicating the design which I was envisioning.

Some additional search for key elements of the design - the mask and the lantern. I was considering adding malachite into design, but later abandoned this idea, as it was overcomplicating the design which I was envisioning.

Base color palette search. I was mostly looking in the yellowish-green, green and brown spectre, as these are the colors generally associated with swamps and forests.

After deciding what aesthetics would fit my vision of this character, I made some additional search on the silhouette and main functional elements of the character.

Initial brainstorm sketches. I was searching in two main directions - either go with the more luxurious and 'royal' image or more modest, old, withered garments, with more of Yama Uba aesthetics.
