Magnus Kalb Character Design - Latitude 76: Land of the Onkilons

Excited to share work I’ve done for Latitude 76: Land of the Onkilons by Anisimov Games. It’s an adventure game inspired by the real-life story of the 1900-1902 polar expedition. The game tells the story of brave explorers who set out to prove the existence of a phantom island in the Arctic Ocean.
Magnus Kalb is the main protagonist of the story, a brave sea captain embarking on an expedition towards Terra Incognita. Along his journey, he'll meet and befriend some of the residents of the island, including a cute monkey-like creature who will travel with him in his backpack. I referenced the period-accurate naval uniforms and expedition gear, adapted for the game’s stylized visuals and mechanics. I also created costume variations reflecting different seasons and plot phases. The technical brief was very particular, so there's not as much search on the earlier stages as I'd do usually, there's more variation in details.
